Battery series and parallel: arithmetic versus installation design
Understand what voltage, Ah and Wh arithmetic proves—and which compatibility and safety questions it cannot answer.
Series/parallel arithmetic assumes identical units. Series multiplies nominal voltage, parallel multiplies rated Ah, and total nominal Wh equals unit Wh times count. These identities do not establish that a proposed bank is permitted.
Before physical work, use current exact-product documents to verify permitted series/parallel counts, matching requirements, state-of-charge preparation, BMS and charger architecture, conductor and overcurrent protection, disconnects, fault-current behavior, ventilation, enclosure and environmental limits. Never use a calculated topology as permission to mix chemistry, model, capacity, age or condition. Qualified review is appropriate for safety-critical or professional installations.
