How to source cutting speed, chip load and feed values

A traceable method for collecting manufacturer inputs without turning a formula calculator into a recommendation table.

Record the manufacturer, exact product or part number, document revision, tool material and coating, cutting diameter, effective teeth, work material specification and hardness, operation, radial/axial engagement, coolant, holder and machine constraints. Copy the range and its units into a project record rather than relying on memory.

Check whether a published value is a starting value, maximum, or application-specific correction. Do not transfer values between unlike tool geometry, material, hardness or process. Formula pages can relate feed, RPM, chip load and diameter, but only the applicable technical source and validated shop process can support the starting values.
