What does a 2× multiplier mean?+

Each frame delay is divided by two, so the animation plays approximately twice as fast. Very short delays are clamped to 20 ms.

What are the limits?+

GIF delays round to 10 ms, with a 20 ms minimum for predictable browser playback.
