Formula and calculation order
The calculator multiplies the visible sheet, schedule and layer inputs, then applies allowance. Box rounding is a separate final step.

Governing example
The tested governing fixture produces 1408 screws after the required final ceiling. Inputs that must come from product or project documents are intentionally blank in the interface.
Measure first
Measure finished surfaces and openings separately. Keep seams, corners, layers and product quantities in distinct categories so they are not double-counted. Record the source and revision of every schedule, coverage or package value.

- The tool does not choose screw type, length, framing spacing, fastening schedule, layers or rated-assembly details.
- The result is a material-planning quantity, not a rated assembly, structural design, finish guarantee, code decision or supplier quote.
Common mistakes
- Using a generic coverage or fastening rule for a named system.
- Mixing gross and net area.
- Counting openings twice.
- Applying allowance before and after package rounding.
- Assuming a whole-package remainder will be usable.
